UBAN has led the community planning and engineering effort for the Red Rocks Ranch community in Jefferson County, Colorado. This community plan draws from the community planning principles articulated in Plan Rooney Valley, a plan for the sensitive Rooney Valley area between Morrison and Lakewood, in the shadows of the hogback foothills area. It outlines a plan for a series of open space corridors and community and neighborhood park areas that preserve sensitive riparian areas and connect Red Rocks Ranch to Bear Creek State Park and to additional open space areas in Jefferson County, to the west of C-470. The project carefully preserves view corridors of the foothills and of Bear Creek Lake and provides lands for civic uses for the Town of Morrison.
UBAN led a series of neighborhood meetings in Morrison and Lakewood to gain input from the community concerning Red Rocks Ranch and worked carefully with staff in Morrison and Jefferson County to plan for future land uses and to align the project with the goals of local comprehensive plans and Plan Rooney Valley. UBAN is currently working on detailed design for park and open space areas, the McIntyre Street corridor, and for various residential areas in the community. UBAN led all land planning efforts for Red Rocks Ranch and gained approvals through hearings with the Town of Morrison.
